The new year will bring in a small boutique hotel to the Bay St. Louis beachfront.

The partners hope to attract guests from New Orleans and Baton Rouge who may bypass the Coast for upscale properties in Alabama or farther east.
“We really saw the need for rooms there, especially in the summertime,” Nicaud said. “It looks like a great spot, and we think it’s going to work.” The ground floor will provide on-site parking, including handicapped space, with garage doors. Some space has even been set aside for future commercial use. The second floor will have three suites, each with a king bed, a coffee nook, and a covered patio facing the water. The three units are each 326 square feet. The 978 square-foot top floor unit is divided but accessible from both sides. Each side has a primary suite with a king bed, a second smaller bedroom, a living room with a coffee bar, and a full bathroom. A covered balcony runs the length of the unit. The hotel won’t be staffed, so guests will access the rooms with a security code and will check in virtually. The hotel, which the developers haven’t named yet, is their first project together. Nicaud and his brother, Jourdan, have hotels and restaurants operating along the Coast with more in the works. Their holdings include Bacchus restaurants in Pass Christian and Ocean Springs, Field’s Steak & Oyster Bar on Main Street in the Bay and Ocean Springs, and Hotel Pass Christian. Two short-term rental projects in Pass Christian and a hotel in Ocean Springs are under construction. The contractor for the North Beach hotel is Shaun Parker Construction of Biloxi. Freddie Fountain of Fountain & Associates in Biloxi did the project design. The developers say the hotel will have a contemporary look. The project minor site plan was approved earlier this month by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Corbitt said, “We don’t have to go to the City Council because we are not asking for any variances, so we are good to go.” Nicaud said they anticipate the room rates to be $150 on weekdays and $300 to $400 on weekends.
