The highly anticipated Tendga Hibachi restaurant on Hwy. 90 (previously Hancock-Whitney Bank) will open within the next 30 days, we’ve been told. People from all over have been asking about and eagerly anticipating the grand opening for Waveland’s very own hibachi restaurant. We hope to hear the exact opening date for this beautiful place soon. Speaking of food, Food Truck Friday is the second Friday of each month from 6 to 9 pm, and the next installment is August 9. The food truck lineup changes monthly, so plan to attend every month to try something new. There is always a wonderful variety of cuisine to sample at this family- and pet-friendly event. Follow their Facebook page for updates. New Golf Cart Rules Earlier this month, the City of Waveland announced a big change in the golf cart ordinance and registration policy. Waveland is transitioning to annual golf cart registration. The implementation of the new golf cart ordinance will require the renewal of permits by October 1 of each year, including 2024. All golf cart permits purchased before the start of this new ordinance will need to be replaced on October 1. Register your golf cart at the Waveland Police Department, 1602 McLaurin St. Don’t forget to drive your golf cart to the department for inspection, and bring your proof of insurance and driver’s license. Permits are $50 for the year. Waveland Recognizes Julie Bromwell The City of Waveland would like to take a minute to recognize Julie Bromwell for her amazing work in support of the city in the last seven years. Julie is currently the utilities office manager, but she began her career with the city as a clerk in 2017. She was awarded this much-deserved promotion in October of 2020. Prior to working for Waveland, she was employed by the Picayune School District and Hancock School District as a special needs teacher. As the utilities office manager, Julie has many day-to-day duties, including working closely with the public works manager, maintaining the billing, and assisting the public. She works diligently to keep up with inventory and purchasing to make sure the department stays within budget. Julie’s philosophy is to never ask anyone she works with to do anything she is not willing or does do herself. She is FEMA-certified in emergency situations and pandemics, an especially important consideration for Waveland. In addition to her work for the city, Julie is an avid volunteer. From 2013 to 2020, she volunteered with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and from 2011 to the COVID pandemic with the American Cancer Society. She also loves volunteering for Veteran’s organizations and is a new member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77 in Waveland. Julie was born in the back seat of a brand new 1972 station wagon, delivered by her father en route to the hospital. She came into this world in a unique way and has remained unique ever since. While originally from Point Cadet in Biloxi, Julie has lived in Waveland since 2011. She loves the beach, her dogs, Jeeping, and spending as much time as possible with her four children and six grandchildren. Julie loves Waveland and is passionate about her work. Her goal is to leave a positive footprint. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
