Paddle Paradise
Diamondhead is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host the 5th Annual Paddle Paradise event this weekend. This four-mile, non-competitive paddle along the scenic Paradise Bayou offers the perfect opportunity for participants to enjoy the beauty of Diamondhead’s waterways. Whether you're a seasoned paddler or a first-timer, this inclusive event welcomes individuals of all ages and fitness levels. It’s a fantastic way to explore nature while connecting with the community. Mayor Nancy Depreo spoke about Diamondhead's unique waterfront, saying, “Diamondhead has an impressive waterfront, even though it’s not located directly on the bay or the gulf. We’re looking forward to hosting an event that will bring people together to enjoy the beauty of Paradise Bayou and hope to see more people on kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes in the future.” The event kicks off with onsite registration at 8 a.m. at the Diamondhead Marina. Those who register early may snag one of the limited event t-shirts, so advance sign-up is encouraged. The paddle adventure begins promptly at 9 am, offering participants a leisurely journey through the serene waters of Paradise Bayou. Light refreshments and water will be provided during registration to keep everyone energized. After paddling, participants can cool down with complimentary snowballs, and a light lunch will be available for purchase back at the marina. This community-focused event is free and open to the public. All participants are required to bring their own kayak, paddleboard, canoe, or other self-propelled watercraft, along with personal life jackets and safety gear. Paddle Paradise promises a day of fun, relaxation, and exploration, as families and friends come together to celebrate Diamondhead’s natural beauty. For more information, contact Diamondhead City Hall at (228) 222-4626, and don’t miss out on a day filled with sunshine, adventure, and camaraderie on the waters of Paradise Bayou.
