Talk of the Town - September 2024
Downtown Dasher, the new local, on-demand golf cart taxi service, will begin to offer their services October 3 (hopefully).

The town is talking about Hancock County’s newest business, Downtown Dasher. The passion project of owner Heather Dubuisson, this on-demand golf cart taxi service is ready to do the driving for you. Heather said, “I hate going downtown and trying to find parking, so this is my solution to help people.”

Community members seem to be very receptive to this idea, as Dasher’s social media posts have been steadily gaining traction. Follow Downtown Dasher on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest news.

Co-owner Joel Geiger holds the role of Chief Operating Officer and will manage the fleet of golf carts. To start, Heather and Joel will be the primary drivers. The duo plans to expand the business after the New Year and will be hiring more drivers to cover the shuttle routes.

Downtown Dasher anticipates launching on October 3, permits permitting, just in time for Cruisin’ the Coast. Expected hours of operation are Thursday and Sunday, 10 am- 8 pm, and Friday and Saturday, 10 am-1 am, though these hours may be adjusted based on customer demand and needs. Hours will also be expanded during the busy season and for special events.

To begin, services will be on-demand only. But have no fear, Dubuisson plans to have a Dasher Route set and running soon! The hope is to have a regular route from the Depot to Downtown and on to the Hollywood Casino, beginning after the New Year.

After the expansion, Downtown Dasher will offer daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly passes for their shuttle route(s). These passes will be available to anyone, and we encourage short-term rental owners to consider purchasing one as a perk for guests. Shuttle routes will be in addition to on-demand rides. Customers can also schedule rides, a perfect option to make sure you make your dinner reservation. For the on-demand and scheduled rides, rates start at $5/person for the first mile and $2/person for each mile after.

Just like with Uber or Lyft, pre-registration is encouraged to ensure a smooth and easy process for pick-up and payment. You can pre-register by filling out THIS form and following the emailed instructions.

For a little lagniappe, the carts will also have karaoke and disco balls for a little entertainment on your ride. Heather said, “It’s not just a ride; it’s an experience.” Photos and videos of the good times will be shared on Dasher’s social media accounts, so be sure to follow along.

While all about promoting a good time, Downtown Dasher also prioritizes safety. Passengers are required to wear seatbelts and keep the armrest down while the cart is in motion. Due to legal limitations, unfortunately Downtown Dasher is unable to transport children requiring the use of car or booster seats. All terms and conditions can be found on their website.

Downtown Dasher also offers advertising opportunities for your business. Fill out the “Contact Us” form and they will send you an advertisement packet. Stickers with the contact information and website are available for anyone, at no cost to you. Rack cards are coming soon.

Also, Heather wanted to give a special shout-out to Billy at Gulf Coast Golf Carts for guiding her and Joel through the purchasing process and finding the carts that suited their needs.
