Located in the heart of Old Town Bay St. Louis at 131-B Main Street, Southern Comfort Cotton, formerly known as California Drawstrings, continues its legacy of offering high-quality, natural fiber clothing that has been a staple in the community for over 39 years. Established by Linda Keenan in 1983, this beloved store has built a reputation for stylish, breathable clothing perfect for the Gulf Coast climate.

Picture

Originally launched in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Southern Comfort Cotton quickly gained a loyal following for its commitment to comfort and style. Keenan’s keen eye for fashion and understanding of the local climate led her to stock clothing lines made from linen and cotton, such as Flax and Match Point, known for their chic and practical designs. “I thought, ‘this will be great for people coming into the city and not understanding the heat and humidity of New Orleans,’” Keenan recalls, emphasizing the store’s focus on comfort and practicality.

The store’s relocation to Bay St. Louis a decade ago only strengthened its connection to the community. With a new name but the same dedication to quality, Southern Comfort Cotton offers a wide range of options for both men and women, including plus sizes.

To celebrate its hotspot status on Second Saturday, August 10, Southern Comfort Cotton will host an exciting day of activities and promotions. Shoppers who spend $25 or more will be entered into a raffle to win gift cards valued at $25, $50, or $100. Additionally, customers will have the opportunity to spin the Wheel of Fortune for a chance to win 10%, 20%, or even 50% off their purchases that day. Every shopper will also receive a gift with their purchase.

With new pieces arriving all the time, every visit to Southern Comfort Cotton promises fresh discoveries and timeless wardrobe staples. The store’s blend of artsy and classic styles, all crafted with deft touches and made in the U.S., ensures that customers always find something special.
