Hen House is the perfect spot for a relaxing glass of wine or an evening out with friends. The atmosphere, drinks, and food create a beautiful experience for anyone. This is a don’t-miss spot in the growing Depot District in Bay St. Louis.

Owner Tasha Holliday and her husband, Bradley, dreamed of curating a place for professional women to relax with a glass a wine after work or a stay-at-home mom to meet her girlfriends for their monthly catch-up. Her vision has come to life at the Hen House, a cozy spot in the Depot District perfect for anyone looking for a cocktail crafted to perfection or a nice bottle of wine, especially on Wine Wednesdays with specials and discounts. While sitting at the classic butcher block bar in crushed velvet barstools, general manager Jared McCurnin told me about the inspiration behind the bar. Extreme effort went into every decision, including the handpicked wallpaper in the bathroom and the unique glassware for cocktails. As a master mixologist, Jared drafts every seasonal cocktail menu pulling inspiration from his love of drink chemistry while throwing in long-forgotten ingredients as a nod to the past. My favorite pick for the evening was the Andes Mint, a holiday martini that tastes exactly like the sweet treat itself. We also sampled the Smores Tini, Peppermint Martini, and the Campfire Apple Crisp Old Fashioned. My crew really enjoyed watching Jared craft each cocktail from scratch. I most looked forward to seeing which glass each would be served in. While the drinks take center stage, we mustn’t forget the food. The hot honey bacon deviled eggs are a work of art. The mix of sweet and savory with a hint of spice hits just right and was an amazing complement to my Campfire Apple Crisp Old Fashioned. The hummus was creamy and served with pita and an assortment of julienned veggies. A unique addition to the hummus plate is sliced apples, a surprisingly tasty pairing. We wrapped up our snack order with the parmesan popcorn, a classic and simple option with a perfectly satisfying crunch factor. The Hollidays have built an oasis here, and while the business caters to women, there are plenty of options for all. The bourbon selection could stand on its own, but there is a wide variety of beer options, including bottled, canned, and draft. For those not indulging, Jared has put just as much effort into the gloriously made mocktail menu. He says the mocktails are even more fun to test and sample. With its moody atmosphere, seasonal décor, and delicious menu, Hen House is one of my new favorites. I’ll definitely make it one of my regular stops! Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
