Cruisin’ the Coast Cruisin’ the Coast is almost upon us! You don’t want to miss Hotrods & Hospitality on Coleman Avenue on October 9. There will be food and drinks, crafts, music, and of course, cars galore. We have been waiting all year for this, and it promises to exceed expectations. Come on your golf cart for easy parking and access to the fun. Tropical Smoothie Coming to Waveland Many have been waiting to hear what is happening at the TMobile building by Walmart, and now the news is out. Tropical Smoothie is working hard to open its doors soon at that location. An official opening date has not been announced but is eagerly anticipated. Progress at the Marriott Hotel Site Driving past the site of the new hotel, you’ll notice the property has been completely transformed. The Marriott/Fairfield hotel group is hard at work preparing the site for construction. Currently, the developers anticipate opening late in 2025, but if they can maintain this pace, we may see the doors open even sooner. Eddie Hursey Honored Eddie Hursey, an investigator with the Waveland Police Department, was recently honored for being an exemplary employee and member of our community. Eddie is from Pass Christian. After graduating from St. Stanislaus in 2000, he attended the Reserve Police Academy before undertaking a career in law enforcement. It didn’t take long for Eddie to tackle a full-time career as a law enforcement officer, though, joining the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office as a full-time deputy within a year. After eight years with the Sheriff’s Office, Eddie made the switch to the Waveland Police Department in 2014 as a patrol officer. In 2018, he was promoted to investigator and has held that role since. Eddie plays a critical role in solving crimes and working with the community on behalf of our police department. When he isn’t on duty, Eddie is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife of 21 years, Tiffany Gibson, have an 11-year-old son and a daughter who graduated from Our Lady Academy and is now a college freshman. Eddie loves to cook, hunt, fish, and camp. From what I hear, he is a master at boiling seafood! We are proud to call Eddie Hursey a member of the Waveland City family and thank him for his ten years of service with Waveland PD.
