The owners of Sassy Bird Interiors, Holly Harrison and Shannon Stage.
You may know them as Sassy Bird, but their brand origin is sweet rather than sassy.

Holly Harrison and Shannon Stage are both powerhouse women who came up with the idea for their interior design store during a lunch meeting a year and a half ago. They are also grandmothers with fun nicknames – “Sassy” for Shannon and “Birdie” for Holly. Sassy Bird Interiors was born.

The two have focused on making Sassy Bird Interiors be a place that homeowners can come to find unique, curated pieces. Nothing is purchased in bulk, meaning each piece is hand selected by Holly and Shannon themselves.

“We make our selections together,” said Shannon. “We don’t buy anything we don’t love. We know we’ve hit a home run when we both love it.”

Not only do they put in an extraordinary amount of time and work to find these personal pieces but they also offer the ability for clients to place custom orders. From furniture to accessories, even down to the art on the walls, Shannon and Holly can find the perfect piece for a client’s home.

For the past 35 years, Holly has worked as registered interior designer professional. She resides in Baton Rouge with a second home in Florida, but she travels a good bit for her thriving business.

“Holly has such a great relationship with makers and vendors across the country,” Shannon noted.

“I love making people happy in their homes. It’s a blessing,” Holly said. “I think Shannon has that in her, too.”

The pair also offer interior design services. Either Holly or Shannon make in-home visits to discuss options on the best pieces and decor for their client’s lifestyle and home.

It doesn’t stop there.

Shannon Stage is also the owner of Sassy Designs and heads the Sassy Kids cove in The Shops of Century Hall as well.

“Nearly 20 years ago I started a company that creates etiquette goods for children. Sassy Designs creates manners mats, coloring books, and “Teach Me Thank You” notes to help parents and care providers teach the next generation manners and graciousness,” explained Shannon. “We also produce guides on table etiquette for adults who need reminders every now and then!”

Christmas vibes are in the air, and 200 North Beach Restaurant – and its upstairs companion, the BSL Balcony Lounge – wants to amp that up a decibel or two.

Both 200 North Beach and the Balcony Lounge are located in one of the coast’s historic treasures, built in 1903 as home to one of Mississippi’s oldest newspapers, the Sea Coast Echo. Now, the building’s getting an addition and a remodeling transformation just in time for the holidays.

The addition is slated for completion in early 2021 and will offer an outdoor oyster bar and a rooftop bar with a fabulous view. In the meantime, 200 North Beach recently opened up a new private party room. Guests pass through ornately-carved wooden doors into a large room with an intimate atmosphere, modern decor and a private balcony. The private room is available now for holiday parties, rehearsal dinners or small events (call for details and to book).

Of course, the unique historic ambiance of the 200 North Beach building is only one of reasons the restaurant is popular with foodies across the coast. The menu and kitchen are the domain of award-winning Chef Bernard Carmouche. They both reflect the chef’s decades of experience in top culinary venues. Darren Thompson serves as sous chef and kitchen manager, helping lead the staff to success, night after night.

The support team is equally important to a superb dining experience. Bethany Ladner, General Manager of 200 North Beach, and Brooke Loftin, Bay Saint Louis Restaurant Group consultant, are a powerhouse duo. From party planning to catering and running a high-volume restaurant, they are the face of 200 North Beach, owned by developer and restauranteur Jim McPhaille.

Visit 200 North Beach Restaurant and Bar for December’s Second Saturday and enjoy live music from Cade Evans and holiday-themed cocktails. You’ll be in for a treat with whatever marvelous special Chef Bernard prepares for the night!

Mark your calendars for the Second Annual New Year’s Eve Oyster Drop that will be happening live from 200 North Beach’s rooftop on December 31st.
