Shore Thing Fishing Report 6/23/2022
If you can bear the heat, the fishing is nothing short of amazing!

With the salty water and plentiful bait fish, the fishing has been outstanding everywhere. Our boats are doing great fishing right off the beaches, down south in the Louisiana Marshes, and around the barrier islands – mainly with speckled trout. Our offshore boat has been seeing big red snappers on almost every trip. We are hearing the late night floundering folks are doing well too.
The big bull reds, jack crevalle and sharks are also here. With the big schools of Pogies, rain minnows and lady fish pushing through, the big fellas are right there with them. They will most certainly mess up the trout fishing, but man, do they put up a good fight.
This pattern should hold for several weeks. If you find areas with bait fish (shrimp, minnows, mullet, etc.) the trout will be near. We are still focusing on areas with shell bottoms in four feet of water or less. The man-made reefs and grass beds are all holding fish as well.
Watch for those pop-up summer squalls. Bring plenty of water and try to fish early mornings and late evenings for cooler temperatures.
As always, have fun and be safe.
