What's Up, Waveland? October 2021
Waveland alderman Jeremy Burke reports on plans for Veterans Day, the next Food Truck Friday, and an update on activity on Highway 90 at Waveland Avenue.
- by Jeremy Burke
Holding the parade on a Saturday allows the youth of our community not only to attend or participate in the parade, but to learn about civic pride. Our hope is that they will carry on this tradition.
Veterans of the Bay/Waveland and Hancock County areas are invited to participate by riding in the parade. We also encourage groups who would like to march in the parade, and any individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring the event, to contact us. Most of all, we want members of our community to join together in honoring our veterans by attending the parade.
If you are a veteran, if you are a part of a group who would like to participate, or if your business would like to become a sponsor, please contact Kristen Tusa at 228-209-7399 or email email@example.com.
We look forward to honoring the brave men and women of our community.
October Food Truck Friday
Waveland Food Truck Friday will be held on Friday, October 8, 5–8pm, on Coleman Avenue. Food trucks in attendance will be Dolce, Smoking Oyster, L&S Concessions, Rolling Bayou, Li’l Cajun Express, Chillin’ the Coast, and Beach Dawgs. The Waveland Civic Association will again sell beverages, and Greg B. Productions will provide music. We hope to see you there.
Highway 90 and Waveland Avenue
Several people have called me asking about the activity on the corner of Highway 90 and Waveland Avenue.
I wish I could report that the activity was the start of new commercial development. In fact, the property owner is leasing the lot to an oil company so their offshore oil workers have a place to park their cars. The City of Waveland has made an agreement with the company to compensate Waveland police officers for working security details in the parking lot, to ensure the safety of the workers and their vehicles.
