The summer holiday has started, and water activities are in full swing! Captain Sonny suggests taking this opportunity to explore new fishing spots - there are a lot of good areas to choose from.

Our boats have been using a ton of live shrimp and croakers to locate the fish. Once we find the fish we will switch over to a variety of soft plastics. Matrix soft plastics are always a favorite. Vudu shrimp and other shrimp imitations work well too. Most everything we fishing is in 4 foot of water of less so we rely heavily on the Boat Monkey popping corks. Two feet of 20lb leader and a 1/0 or 2/0 khale hook with a small split shot is our go-to rig. The near shore fishing has been great, even in the dirty water. The near shore reefs are beginning to hold more and more trout. The redfish, white trout, and puppy drum have been saving the days for us on the windy days in close. Honestly, fresh dead shrimp has worked better than anything, fished on the bottom. The ultra high tides have pushed fish against the shorelines and literally in the grass. The crowds we are seeing on the water have been a bit overwhelming. Since the fishing has been good most places, this a great time to do some exploring. Leave the crowds and find a new spot to fish peacefully. It looks like it’s gonna be a busy spring and likely summer. Please be considerate of others space. There’s plenty of water and fish out there for everyone. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
