Successful fishing is knowing where, when, and how. As we transition from summer to fall, that is more important than ever and could mean the difference between fishing success and an empty cooler.

We spend the bulk of our days looking for redfish. There are good numbers of redfish along the shorelines in Lake Borgne, the back bay, around the barrier Islands, and of course, throughout the Louisiana marsh. The best time to fish has been high water with a falling tide. Focus on broken shorelines or little drains and ditches, especially if you see any signs of bait against the shoreline. A good many flounder are around, and we have our fingers crossed that we will have a decent run as more serious cold fronts pass through in the coming weeks. You still have a little bit of time to pick a fight with a big fish. Sharks, jack crevalles, and bull reds are still terrorizing the mullet and pogie schools. This should continue for a couple of weeks until the cold weather gets here in earnest. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
