As fall progresses and temps cool, the fishing changes to a more wintery pattern. But that doesn't mean there's no fun to be had!

The cooler it gets, the deeper we go to seed out speckled trout. Try to find deeper ditches, bayous and canals and definitely slow your presentation. Slow-sinking artificial baits work very well, as do Carolina rigged live shrimp or minnows. The flounder season should be almost finished, the fish pushing offshore for the winter, but there are likely still some big ones lurking around.
Big black drum should be hanging around nearshore reefs and bridges. While they’re not great table fare, they are a lot of fun to do battle with on light tackle. Fresh, dead shrimp works very well on those big sea monsters. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
