Winter fishing on the Gulf Coast means watching the weather, starting later in the day, and being sensible. When the weather is bad, work on your tackle so you're ready for the spring.

This is a tough time of year to fish, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting out. Your priority should be safety, and second is comfort. Keep a close watch on the temperature and the winds. Start off later in the day to take advantage of warmer temperatures. On the really bad days, just don’t go. These are the perfect times to work on your boat and tackle so you’re ready for the better weather that surely will come. We are very much looking forward to starting to work on the sheepshead that should be piling in here with the cooler temperatures. The redfish and speckled trout should remain good as long as we do not flood. Just be safe and don’t take any unnecessary chances. Wait for fair-weather windows; I assure you, they will present themselves eventually. Enjoy this feature?
