To everything, there is a season - and the fall is a season of change for local anglers. It can be the best of all worlds.

Of course, the Louisiana marsh is providing some of the better fishing we have seen in a while. The shrimp are distributed throughout the marsh. We are still seeing big schools of bull reds crushing the jumping, jumbo shrimp, a very unexpected and welcome treat. That is the type of stuff we see mainly in the summertime. Last week’s cold snap put the Flounder on the move. I think I caught more flounder the past few days than I have in the last few months. A few more cold snaps and they will likely head offshore for the winter, though. No matter where we are fishing, the greater swings in the tide and the best moving water have definitely produced the best fishing. Good current and bait fish almost always produce a good bite. Another welcome treat with the salty water has been an early push of sheepshead. If you haven’t tried catching and eating sheepshead, you have no idea what you’re missing. If you need help learning how to clean them, YouTube has dozens of instructional videos to help you. Enjoy this feature?
