There are enough beautiful days this time of year to get out and enjoy the stellar redfish and sheepshead action.

The frigid temperatures have brought in the Sheepshead. We should be covered up in those things for the next several months. Live shrimp has been working great for us. Please remember Mississippi has a 14-inch minimum size and allows 15 fish per person. Louisiana is unlimited. Sheepshead can be a little tricky to clean, so you want to use good sharp knives, or better yet, a sharp serrated knife. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing many different cleaning techniques to help make quick work of those tasty “bay snappers.” Be sure to keep a close eye on the weather, and on the super-frigid days, enjoy sleeping in and fishing the warmer midday temperatures.
