Shore Thing Fishing Report

Shore Thing Fishing Report, 12/17/2025

12/17/2025

December 17, 2025
The fish are out there for the anglers who ignore the calendar and take advantage of the frequent fair weather days.

The Plauche crew from New Orleans with a triple on nice sheepshead they caught out of Pass Christian.
The cold fronts are stacking up, and temperatures are dropping. The fishing has been fantastic, but you must pick your days. When these fronts hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast, they usually pack a lot of wind, colder temperatures, and rain. However, on the days before and after the fronts, the weather has been very nice, and the fishing has been very good.

We have been fishing the reefs, bridges, and any structure for sheepshead. The big ones have moved in, and it looks like they should be here for the next several weeks. Luckily, the bait shops still have live shrimp, and that has been the best thing going.

We are burning through a lot of tackle fishing heavy structure, but that is part of the game. Just remember to bring plenty of hooks and weights. A good pair of pliers doesn't hurt either.

On pretty days, we head into the marsh to chase redfish. The deeper holes have been holding fish consistently. The real fun has been chasing fish on shallow flats and sight casting to them using live bait, tight-lined soft plastics, or spinner baits.

This is an amazing time of year to be on the water. When you get a nice weather day, it’s just magical. There is little to no boat traffic, the bugs leave you alone, and the scenery is spectacular.

Please be safe, have fun and have a very Merry Christmas.
