Don't let a little blustery weather keep you from enjoying the great fall fishing!
- by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters On really cold mornings, we have been pushing our start times back a few hours to try and fish in the warmest parts of the day. I’m not saying you can’t catch fish in the freezing temperatures, it’s just more comfortable and consistently better fishing during the warmer midday temperatures. We have had breezy conditions the last couple of days, so the bulk of our fishing has been tucked against the shorelines from Pass Christian to Lake Borgne, fishing any kind of structure we can, including man-made reefs, oyster leases, bridges, and old piers. Thankfully, the hard-working live bait boats have been catching some nice live shrimp. We are having a ball with the variety of cold water species. Most days we see a good many Sheepshead, puppy drum, redfish, and flounder. There are still speckled trout and white trout lurking around in the deeper holes. As the temperatures decrease, you need to be extra careful out on the water. Do your best to stay dry, wearing the proper gear and making the most of the good weather days. Even though the weather will get interesting when the big cold fronts hit, I promise you, the fishing will keep getting better. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
