Spring is in the air, and fishermen are taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the crystal-clear local waters.
- by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters We are still doing well on the nearshore reefs and bridges. When the fog lifts, the Louisiana marsh has been producing a good many redfish, drum, sheepshead, and even some pretty speckled trout. Hopefully this weather pattern will stick around a little while longer and the kiddos will be able to enjoy it during the Mardi Gras break. For those of you looking for a real pull, the barrier islands have been a sight-fishing paradise for gigantic black drum. Some days it’s so clear the fish get a little skittish, but tipping your baits with some live or dead shrimp will normally fool them into a bite. Enjoy the weather, stay safe, and get out there!
