High winds and colder temperatures have kept our fleet close to shore, but the fish are there, waiting!
 - by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters These cooler, windier days kept our boats close to land last week. The fishing has been good, but it’s a mixed bag. These trips are going for whatever is biting. Luckily, some of the fish that are biting are very tasty. We are focusing heavily on whatever live or dead shrimp we can get our hands on. Our target is any kind of structure, mainly in areas that shield us from the wind, in calmer water. We have been catching well at the bridges, nearshore reef, and old, abandoned piers. A mix of sheepshead, speckled trout, puppy, drum, redfish, and a few other critters are keeping our anglers busy. The better bites seem to be later in the day, once temperatures have warmed up, and on bigger swings of the tide. It’s been very nice having shorter runs in this cooler weather. Hopefully we will get another warm spell headed our way soon. Enjoy this feature?
