For now, we’re focusing on black drum, redfish, sheepshead, and whatever trout we can find. The main things to look for are cleaner and water and structure. Combine that with a moving tide and you should find some action. During Mardi Gras, you definitely want to give extra thought to where you launch your boat. If parades are rolling through town, it can be a bit of a headache trailering a boat. You definitely want to do your homework and check the parade schedules so you don’t get caught in any Mardi Gras traffic. The warmer weather should keep our live bait shops supplied with frisky live shrimp. Those folks have been working their tails off to keep live bait in the tanks. Be sure to thank them. I’ve never met a live bait worker that did not appreciate a tip. For now, we are just watching the weather for wind and the rain. The more rain we get, the further south and east we will fish. Hopefully, the heavy cold fronts are behind us, but only time will tell. Just be careful, watch your weather, have fun, and be safe! Enjoy this feature?
