Warming weather and water temperatures have seen the rebounding of our local fishery. The fish are everywhere, and our local charter captains know how to find them!

It’s business as usual with the redfish, puppy drum, and sheepshead. Also, I’m happy to report that the warm trend has triggered a fairly decent speckled trout bite. Almost everything has been caught on live shrimp under Boat Monkey popping corks drifted over shells in 2 to 4 feet of water. I am happy to report that we had a day in Lake Borgne where we tagged dozens of rat reds that looked very fat and healthy. This should mean good things to come and a relief that the freeze did not hurt them. Personally, I love this warm weather, and it seems like the fish are digging it, too. I am all but certain we will get cooler temperatures again eventually, but for the time being, life is very good! Enjoy this feature?
