Finding clean water is the key this week to finding the fish. Don't be afraid to move around until you find them.

Nice sheepshead for these lucky anglers.

Finding clean, moving water was the key on the last few trips we made during that pretty weather. The areas to the south such as the Biloxi marsh were decent for speckled trout. We mostly drifted oyster reefs until we found the ones holding the fish.

Sheepshead will be on the menu for the next several weeks.

 
It was a lot of sticking and moving, but once we found them, it was a good flurry of action. The good news, too, is that the majority of the fish we caught were almost all over 13 inches. We didn’t hammer on any huge trout, with the biggest maybe 16 inches long, but it was fun fishing.
 

Redfishing should get better and better in the coming weeks.

 
We were able to find some redfish a little farther east than we typically fish this time of year. In the bays and the lagoons, the water was very clean. The fish were a little more skittish than we see in the ponds, but they were definitely there.
 

Big black drum are always fun on light tackle.

 
The nearshore fishing has been hit or miss, but again, that has to do with finding cleaner water. The fish are there, but they seem to be moving in and out of the reefs and the bridges with the tide in the clean water. As long as we get minimal rain in the region, the fishing should just get better and better.
 

Fish as art: A cooler full of speckled trout is a beautiful thing.
