The wind kept the boats close to shore this week, but the fishing is about to get really good!

A big fish coming on the boat for Captain Darien Ladner near Bay St. Louis.

The winds have kept almost all of our trips in close these last several days. The good news is that the fishing has still been very good from Pass Christian to Bayou Caddy.

The live bait has still been a little difficult to find. We are using anything and everything we can get our hands on at the moment. Some days you get lucky and find live shrimp or minnows and other days you have to rely on dead shrimp from the supermarket.

I would imagine the Louisiana marsh is getting right and we hope to be out there this week if the weatherman lets us.

The sheepshead have started heading out and the black drum have pretty much taken over. The big ones have been a lot of fun on the Light Tackle. We are seeing them on just about every reef, bridge, or any structure near the beach.

Lil Brother “Joe Joe” and big brother Jake with plenty of puppy drum and one big trout after a windy day in Back Bay BSL.

The smaller puppy drum have been a very welcome sight. These tasty little critters have been everywhere. If you have not tried puppy drum, you truly do not know what you are missing. The smaller 16-- to 20-inch fish are absolutely delicious.

We have been burning through a lot of tackle fishing the structures, so if you are going to try this type of fishing, you most definitely want to bring plenty of swivels, leaders, hooks, and sinkers.

We are still seeing a few speckled trout here and there, not many, but they are always a welcome sight. There are a good many redfish mixed in with the group as well.

Once these winds lay down a little bit, it should get very, very good. As always have fun and be safe.
