Winds have made boating a little tricky, but if we can get to areas that are shielded from the wind, the action is hot! - by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters I’m happy to report the nearshore fishing has been extremely productive and fun, as long as you can get out of the wind and the waves. We are enjoying great bites on redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and one of the better runs we have had on puppy drum in years. I can’t stress enough how fun these juvenile black drum are to catch, and how delicious they are to eat. The big ones, those in the 30- to 40-pound range, are a blast to fight on light tackle. Live bait has been a challenge to get, but live shrimp certainly makes a difference when we can find it, especially on the speckled trout. However, fresh dead shrimp should get you all the action you need on the redfish and puppy drum. The high tides in the morning have most certainly made a difference in a good way. We can fish in more areas and that is huge, considering the winds already limit where we can run to find protected water. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
