Spring fishing continues to impress, in spite of less than perfect water conditions. If the fishing is this good right now, we can't wait to see what's coming!

The best part is that fishing has been fantastic everywhere we fish. Our boats have consistently caught fish in the dirty water from Heron Bay, to Bay St Louis, to the barrier islands and throughout the Louisiana Marsh. Finally, small waves of shrimp are pushing through. We see birds diving over the oyster reefs and shallow flats, and bigger white trout are moving in with the speckled trout. Kept cool and cooked fresh, white trout are some of the finest eating that swims. Of course, a meal of fresh speckled trout is hard to beat. Flounder have made a huge showing the past few weeks. We saw some big numbers of those magnificent flatties nearshore the last several trips. We are not seeing huge doormats but plenty of legal-sized flounder. The redfish have been coming in daily. High tides have helped put our boats along the shorelines to fish the flooded grass. A live or dead shrimp under the boat monkey popping corks work the best right now. PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR FLOATING DEBRIS. The Mississippi Sound, Chandelier Sound, and even the Bay of St. Louis have been loaded with logs and even whole trees. Some of these logs and trees are massive. I would strongly advise against running in the dark right now. Please be careful and pay close attention while underway. We have not seen much in the way of tripletail yet, but if this debris stays around, the fish will have lots of places to hide. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
