Shore Thing Fishing Report, 6/10/26

Redfish, black drum, and flounder are keeping inshore anglers entertained, while big schools of red snapper await those willing to make an offshore run.

Despite dirty water from all the flooding, the fishing remains very good. I can’t say for certain, but it appears the flooded rivers pushed out a bunch of fish, improving the nearshore fishing. We are enjoying some incredible action in Bay St. Louis and over towards Lake Borgne, even in the river-stained water.

I’m not saying you can’t catch these fish on artificial baits, but live or dead shrimp is making a huge difference in the murky water. Our boats are not seeing a lot of speckled trout near shore, but the redfish, puppy drum and flounder have certainly kept us busy.

We were around the barrier islands a few days ago, and big schools of pogies are pushing in closer every day. With big schools of bait fish will come the big predators: Sharks, jack crevalle, and bull redfish should be in and around the big schools of pogies.

Red snapper season is in full swing. You definitely need to keep a close watch on the weather for those long open-water runs to the red snapper grounds. I’m happy to report our offshore boat is seeing steady action down south. There are a lot of smaller fish mixed in, so don’t be afraid to put a big bait on your hook to get through the smaller red snappers.
