Whether fishing offshore for red snapper or plying our inshore waters and reefs for speckled trout and redfish, there is something for everyone, and the fishing continues to impress.

For now, we continue to have great success on the nearshore reefs to the east. The barrier islands have been very consistent. Of course, the Louisiana marsh has been very good for speckled trout and redfish. Our boats are seeing a few tripletail throughout the Mississippi and Chandeleur Sounds. Since we have not had big numbers of these tasty fish the last couple of years, this is a real treat. The big critters are moving in close. We see a good many sharks around the barrier islands and land a bull red here and there among the school trout. The crowds are pretty much here for the summer. If you are fishing around the barrier islands or the eastern side of the Louisiana marsh, just plan on fishing around other boaters. Fair-weather weekends have been very, very busy. I recommend leaving early, and if you see a crowd, go in the other direction. Hopefully, you’ll find some fish away from the chaos. Our offshore boat has been doing well with those tasty red snappers. They are seeing some large fish this year, and hopefully that will continue through the rest of the season. Offshore, big baits equal big fish. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
