Sonny checks in on the speckled trout fishery, the coming influx of summer species, and a reminder to show courtesy to other boaters as facilities get more crowded over the summer.

Not much has changed this week. It’s still all about hiding from the wind, finding the salty water, and watching out for summertime squalls.
 
The speckled trout fishing is still very good despite less-than-perfect conditions. All of our boats rely heavily on live bait, especially on the days when the murky water pushes into the areas we are fishing.

The crowds on the water and at the boat launches have been very noticeable. We encourage boaters to please be courteous to everyone on and off the water. Please give each other enough space and treat others like you would like to be treated.
 

Steve Sevener from Bay St. Louis with another nice speckled trout he caught fishing out of Shaggy's charter dock in Pass Christian Harbor.

 
We have not seen much in the way of tripletail, but we still have several months to go. Hopefully, when everything gets right to the west, we will see more of them.

We are seeing plenty of big fish around the barrier islands. The ladyfish and the pogies are pushing in, and with them comes the big sharks, the reds, and the big jack Crevalle. It’s getting exciting out there, y’all.
