Shore Thing Fishing Report

Shore Thing Fishing Report, 6/14/2023

6/14/2023

June 14, 2023
There is a smorgasbord of fish out there, just waiting for a smart angler to toss him  some bait or a convincing lure. Trout, tripletail, reds and big game are a short boat ride away!

Great red snapper haul for a crew fishing with Capt Alex McIngvale.
Even though we have had a little more wind to deal with, the fishing has still been very steady. On calmer days, we still see very good trout fishing in the marsh, along the nearshore reefs, and in and around the barrier islands.

The real fun has come with the big push of tripletails we have been seeing. Some of our guides have had groups that invest a lot of time into looking for those tasty critters. If you’ve got plenty of time, fuel, and luck, you are likely to do well with tripletail. Covering a lot of ground on a calm day with sunshine and little to no tide will usually pay off. Typically, these fish will stick around until the cold fronts come in October, so we should have several more months of fun.

We will still be chasing the big critters as well. If you want to tangle with sharks, jack crevalle, and all reds, it looks like they are going to be here for the summer. We are fishing for the big, strong fish where we find the big schools of pogies.

Our boat running south for red snappers has been doing phenomenally well on almost every trip. He has been bringing plenty of fresh pogies with him and trying to get out in the calm weather windows when they present themselves.

The crowds are here and will likely be around for the rest of the summer. Please be courteous to other people fishing, use common sense, and if it feels wrong, please don’t do it. Also, this is some really good fishing we are seeing. If the weather looks good and the kiddos are available to go, please get them out so they can enjoy it while we have it.
