The Fourth of July weekend brought out many anglers, and our area charter boat captains delivered on the fish! Great conditions and good times were had by all.
- by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters Our crews were fishing west into Lake Borgne, east to the barrier islands, and south to the Louisiana Marsh. Everything we are fishing looks great. The mullet, pogies, rain minnows, and shrimp seem to be everywhere. We are seeing a healthy mix of speckled trout, puppy drum, redfish, sharks and a few other critters. The big push of white trout finally came through. Young anglers got to enjoy wide open bites on every cast in white trout madness. The big jacks, bull reds, and sharks have been in the deeper cuts and channels all throughout the Mississippi Sound.
The only thing we need now is a big wave of tripletail to move through. We saw a handful of smaller fish but no legal-sized ones. No worries – we have plenty of fish and cleaner water to keep us busy! Enjoy this feature?
