As it always is this time of year, the big story this week is the heat. Get out early, come in early, and enjoy the fruits of your labors!

In the meantime, we have been having a ball with the big Jack Crevalle, sharks, bull reds, and also the occasional tripletail. Our boats that are putting in the time on the flat, calm and hot days with little to no tide movement are seeing a few tripletails from the barrier islands. I’m not going to lie: It has been hot out there. You definitely want to have the boat out there before the sun comes up. The bite has gotten a little slower on speckled trout during the midday heat, but that’s usually the best time to go looking for tripletail, so it works out perfectly. Watch those pop-up storms, and always leave yourself an exit whenever possible. Enjoy this feature?
