The weather patterns have been consistent, and so has the local fishing - and that's a good thing!

Federal red snapper season is still open, and our offshore boat is still picking away on those delicious red wonders. This time of year, you must search for some good live bottoms or hidden structures to find the monster fish. We took advantage of the bigger high tides coming off the full moon. The redfish bite was pretty decent this past week. From shorelines in Lake Borgne to the flooded grass in Bay St. Louis and throughout the Louisiana marsh, our boats collectively saw a good many redfish. We caught fish on live and dead shrimp under Boat Monkey popping corks. We also used finger mullet and small croakers when we could get them. We should see an uptick in the speckled trout bite once we get a little further away from this full moon (spawn). Hopefully the speckled guys and gals had themselves a good time, and we will soon see many speckled trout babies here in the coming weeks and months. All the other random critters should stay here for a little while longer. Sharks should be thick around the barrier islands. Jack Crevalles should be mixed in with them, if you want to fight something big and mean. Anything fixed or floating in open water is worth an inspection for tripletail . All the deeper holes in 15 to 20 feet of water are worth a drop-down for white trout. We have been using FISH BITES Tipped on soft plastics with heavy jig heads, and it is scary how well they work.
