If you can get out between the rain storms, the fishing is really good right now, with white trout leading the charge into the cooler season.
- by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters
Prior to the increased winds and rain, the fishing was very good. Everything was pretty much keeping with the fall pattern, meaning the redfish appear to be ganging up inside the marsh. The speckled trout are beginning to push deeper into the marsh as well. The biggest surprise of the last few weeks has been the gargantuan white trout. These tasty critters are not just in one spot, either. We have seen these brutes in the Bay, around the Barrier Islands, and all throughout the Louisiana marsh. The biggest one we have seen yet was 17 inches, caught over an oyster reef in four feet of water. Several of our boats have caught many big white trout between 14 and 16 inches long! For now, we will just get out during breaks in the bad weather, but we know it will be worth the wait! Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
