Shore Thing Fishing Report, 11/6/2024

The east winds may be keeping our boats inshore, but they aren't keeping them away from great fishing! Inshore fishing is hot, hot, hot right now.

The stiff east winds are making us work for everything, but there are still plenty of fish to be caught. We haven’t been able to move around much, opting for protected waters first and then picking the areas apart to find the fish. The low tides in the mornings have made things even trickier, but it just makes you fish new areas.

The bulk of our recent trips have been near shore, and looking at the extended forecast, we have even more wind coming. We will likely be fishing close to home for the extended future. Luckily, we have not had a whole lot of rain, and the salty water in close is still holding a good number of white trout, redfish, black drum, sheepshead, flounder, and speckled trout.

We are fishing almost exclusively with live and dead shrimp. If we are fishing deeper structures, we are putting baits on the bottom. When we can get water high enough to fish near the grass, we are fishing our shrimp a foot and a half under a boat monkey popping cork.
 
Our offshore boat was doing very well on the amberjack and tuna prior to the winds and seas picking up this past week. Capt. Alex said the blue water was in very close.

The winds are very typical for this time of year, so just be careful if you are going out in the coming days. There are plenty of areas to fish in protected waters, so don’t take any chances. Please play it safe and wait for calm days that will eventually come. In the meantime, the mild temperatures and sunshine have made for some spectacular weather for fishing.
