Bad weather kept boats close to shore for part of the week, but it didn't stop the action.

Dead shrimp has been our go-to bait in the still, murky waters. Our boats have fished from Lake Borgne to Bay St Louis, hiding from the wind most of the week. We have been working the nearshore reefs heavily. Despite the weather and dirty water, the redfish and black drum carried us through the week. We should have a few days of south winds this coming week, bringing in some salty water. We are getting reports that schools of jacks and bulls are cruising further east, and they should be along the beaches of Hancock County any day. In the meantime, it’s business as usual. Watch your weather and play the winds. These little pop-up storms pack a punch, so please don’t take any unnecessary chances. It’s Fourth of July week, so obviously, there will be a huge amount of boat traffic. Early mornings will be your best bet to beat the crowds (and the heat). Bring a few pounds of dead shrimp if the water is murky. I promise it will save the day. Enjoy this feature?
