Late summer is the time of year where you can catch practically anything with practically any type of bait, and have a blast doing it.
- by Sonny Schindler, Shore Thing Fishing Charters Our boats have been on a very good bite both before and after the storm, thanks to the high tides and cooler temperatures. From the barrier islands, to the Bay of St. Louis, throughout the Louisiana Marsh, to Lake Borgne, we have been fishing the same pattern. Get near the banks with flooded grass, shells, ditches and bait. The falling water then seems to create a frenzy for the fish. When we say fish, we mean EVERYTHING. Fishing this way this past week has produced redfish, trout, flounder, sheepshead, puppy drum, sharks, and jacks, all against the shorelines.

The go-to rig has been the good ole Boat Monkey Cork, 2 feet of 20-30 leader, and a 1/0 Kahle hook. Some of our boats fished live shrimp, some dead, some cocahoes, and some croakers. The wide variety of bait seems to indicate that these fish are in feed mode for the time being. We hope we can keep this nice weather going and capitalize on the stellar fishing. It has been great everywhere we fish. Enjoy this feature?
