For Nature Lovers

Bay St. Louis, Waveland & Hancock County
 Bay-Waveland Beach Walking/Biking Trail
starts at Washington Street Pier in Bay St. Louis
This five-mile paved off-road trail runs along Hancock County beaches from Bay St. Louis to Bayou Cadet.  A few sections west of Waveland are "share-the-road."  This lovely trail offers splendid birding and nature-watching opportunities.

Hint for biking novices:  Prevailing winds often give bikers leaving the Bay at big "boost" toward Waveland, only to present a challenging ride heading back.  Riding a bit both ways when you're starting out can help you gauge how far you'd like to go.

Bay St. Louis Bridge Walking/Biking Path
Starts at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Beach Blvd. in Bay St. Louis

This unforgettable path across the Bay of St. Louis joins the town with Pass Christian and Harrison County.  The path is just over 4 miles round-trip, with moderate inclines.  Enjoy fabulous vistas and at 1/10 mile intervals, bronze bas-relief plaques created from works by some of the Coast's best artists.  No dogs permitted.

Biome Boardwalk (at Infinity Science Center)

1/4-mile boardwalk traverses four diverse habitats - bayhead swamps, lowland pines, pitcher plant bogs and an upland savannah. Interpretive signage educates visitors on the flora and fauna found in and around the boardwalk, including otters, herons, a variety of snakes, carnivorous plants, and even alligators.

McLeod Park
8100 Texas Flat Road, Kiln, MS 39556

328-acre park and campground offers full-service campsites, disc golf, a playground and splash pad, canoe rentals, boat launch and a nature trail. Future improvements will include an ampitheater. One of the featured hotspots on the MS Coast Birding Trail (see below). $4/car admission.
