Little Tales: A Collection for Creative Minds

9/28/2023

Talk of the Town - September 2023
Conceptualized by local Mallory Ellis, this Bay St. Louis based company is growing.  Little Tales just welcomed Margaret Milner to the team! Mallory has built a brand that nurtures child development through sensory play with non-toxic and educational play kits.

In a world filled with digital distractions and fast-paced living, parents often find themselves yearning for ways to connect with their children through meaningful play experiences. This is a challenge that Mallory Ellis, a devoted mother of two active boys, a sweet little girl, and owner of two furry canine companions, recognized all too well.

Her journey from the vibrant city of New Orleans to the serene Mississippi Gulf Coast led her to create Little Tales, a brand that is changing the way children learn and play.

As a parent, Mallory understands the intricate balance between nurturing her children's creativity and providing them with enriching experiences. Despite having an assortment of toys that collected dust in baskets and on shelves, her children consistently gravitated toward simple items that nurtured their innate creativity. This observation sparked the idea for Little Tales.

Parenthood presents its fair share of challenges, leaving caregivers with limited time and resources to craft engaging activities for their children. Extensive research has shown that children learn most effectively through play, a fact that Mallory fully embraces. Little Tales was born out of the realization that there was a need for products that fostered hands-on learning and imaginative play while reducing screen time.

Little Tales stands at the intersection of creativity and education, offering carefully curated kits and pouches designed to open new avenues for children's exploration, creation, and imagination. These products not only provide a well-deserved respite for caregivers but also elevate a child's cognitive development through play.

Mallory's vision for Little Tales is best exemplified by the Read & Create Kits. These sensory play experiences are centered around beloved classic storylines and include a hand-selected book, homemade non-toxic Creative Dough, props that complement the story, and the Little Tales Creative Ways to Play guide. The result is an enriching reading experience that facilitates learning and development through play, nurturing a child's burgeoning imagination.

But Little Tales doesn't stop there. The Craft & Play Pouches take sensory engagement to the next level. These themed kits, released monthly, include homemade non-toxic Creative Dough, theme-related props, and engaging craft projects. Their convenience, resealable pouches, and all-in-one design make them perfect for on-the-go adventures or as thoughtful gifts.

Little Tales operates on the belief that children should be empowered to weave their own narratives through play. Their products are thoughtfully designed to breathe life into books, making learning an enjoyable and immersive journey for both caregivers and children.

Mallory, the owner of Little Tales, shares her insights about the product line and the impact it has had on children. She says, “Parents come back and tell us that their little ones enjoy creating a story with their props. They are loving the kinesthetic and sensory elements of play while encouraging children to use their imagination." The simplicity and effectiveness of Little Tales' products resonate with both parents and children.

Another key aspect that sets Little Tales apart is their commitment to safety. Mallory notes, "They love that our Creative Dough is non-toxic. They do not have to worry so much if their little one accidentally puts it in their mouth." This non-toxic dough not only improves focus but also helps strengthen children's fine motor skills, essential for tasks like holding a pencil or scissors.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Little Tales is how it helps children's imagination grow with each kit and pouch. Mallory mentions, "They said the kits and pouches are beautifully crafted and full of fun surprises." These surprises not only delight children but also spark their creativity.

When asked about the impact of sensory play, Mallory shares, "Children's brains are craving sensory input, whether it is the sounds of stories or the feel of the different textures of the dough and props. Little Tales pouches and kits give parents the resources to allow their child to have less screen time while engaging in meaningful play." The benefits are plenty, from fine and gross motor skill development to enhanced language skills and overall calming effects on children.

As Little Tales continues to flourish, they have brought in a new business partner, Mallory's lifelong friend, Margaret Milner, who recently became her neighbor in Bay St. Louis. With Margaret's three girls at home, they have joined forces to expand the brand's reach and provide more children with the joy of imaginative play.

In the bustling world of parenting, Little Tales shines as a beacon of creativity and learning. Mallory's dedication to fostering imagination and creativity in children has given rise to a brand that empowers both parents and their little ones. As Mallory invites you to join the Little Tales community, she reminds us all to cherish those precious moments of childhood and equip our children with the tools they need to explore the world around them.
