Last week Mississippi’s poet laureate, Catherine Pierce, spent some time with the people of Hancock County for “Poetry of Place,” a two-day event that included an Authors & Characters luncheon, adult and teen poetry workshops, ad an awards ceremony for the library’s “Poetry of Place” poetry competition. Ms. Pierce’s two-day residency culminated with “The Poetry of Place: A Community Conversation with MS Poet Laureate, Catherine Pierce,” which took place at the 100 Men Hall. This was a casual, personal, insightful and intimate discussion on “The Poetry of Place” and how writing and poetry can impact our lives.
