Mockingbird Cafe
110 South Second St., BSL ∙ (228) 467-8383
Hours: 7 am - 2 pm, 7 days

Nestled in the heart of Bay St. Louis lies the one and only Mockingbird Café, a place that holds a special place in the hearts of the locals. Known as the “living room of Bay St. Louis,” the café’s roots can be traced back to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when the community was left shattered and in need of a place to heal.

Picture

In those trying times, the Mockingbird Café emerged as a beacon of hope, offering comfort and camaraderie to those who sought refuge within its walls. It quickly became a gathering spot where locals and volunteers could come together over a cup of coffee and find solace in conversation and companionship.

Since its modest beginnings, the Mockingbird Café has come a long way, and today it is much more than a coffee shop. It has evolved into a family-friendly establishment that offers a plethora of amenities, including delicious, locally-inspired cuisine made from fresh ingredients, live music performances, art exhibitions, community events, and is a local favorite hangout.

For Second Saturday, April 8, the café will celebrate its status as a Hotspot with a thrilling evening for all attendees. The Jeb Vonderbruegge Trio will grace the café’s outdoor covered stage with music from 5 to 8 pm. If that’s not enough, you can join the Hula Hoop Contest at 6 pm, open to all ages. The winners of the contest will receive a coveted Mockingbird Cafe gift card.

This is just the beginning of the café’s exciting events calendar. In August, the cafe will celebrate its 17th anniversary with its annual Birdstock, featuring live music by the Bay St Louis Trio and a hippie contest. For Frida Fest in July, the Frida look-alike contest will take place at the Mockingbird Café. Participants can register online at the Mockingbird’s website, and all proceeds will go to support local charities.

If you find yourself in search of a welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and unforgettable experiences, look no further than the Mockingbird Café. Stop by and make yourself at home in the “living room of Bay St. Louis!”
