Every now and then, an organization goes beyond its mission statement, exceeding community expectations by crafting an ecosystem of creativity, leadership, and practical skills. M.A.P.- Music, Art & Practicality – is one such gem in Hancock County. Serving as a testament to the transformative power of the arts, M.A.P. has been providing no-cost, high-quality opportunities for children to immerse themselves in the arts since 2009.

Picture

As a creative haven, M.A.P. broadens the horizons of children with theater, dance, and musical performances, visual art classes, and even practical life skills such as sewing, cooking, and building. The non-profit believes strongly in the power of the arts to foster imagination, respect, self-awareness, and an array of essential social and practical skills.

M.A.P.'s annual schedule is punctuated with vibrant events such as the 'Reach for the Stars' children's talent show in spring, a summer theater production at the Hancock Performing Arts Center, and a heartwarming Christmas play. There is no cost for children to participate in these events.

M.A.P.'s impact extends beyond the arts. The non-profit assists local schools with drama productions, contributes to community projects, and even fosters leadership skills among older participants through its Youth Advisory Committee, The YACS. Through planning and executing events, these young leaders earn valuable volunteer hours and annual Presidential Volunteer Service Awards.

Moreover, M.A.P. acknowledges the long-term commitment of graduating seniors with a monetary award. An exemplary model of a non-profit organization, M.A.P. operates through community support in the form of memberships, donations, grants, and sponsorships.
