On December 9, the City of Diamondhead held its ninth annual Christmas on the Town Green, a festive extravaganza that enchanted families and created lasting holiday memories. The event, held on the expansive lawn in front of Diamondhead City Hall, has become a beloved tradition, filling the air with the spirit of Christmas.

The festivities commenced with a spirited parade that embarked from The Club at Diamondhead and wound its way along Golf Club Drive, Diamondhead Drive East, Diamondhead Circle, and ended at City Hall. Noteworthy for its family-friendly atmosphere, the parade featured an array of creatively adorned floats, including golf carts, classic cars, and Jeeps, making it a delightful spectacle for attendees of all ages.

Following the parade, the Christmas festival kicked into high gear with the grand arrival of Santa Claus himself along with Mrs. Claus, the mischievous Grinch, Santa’s elves, and other beloved Christmas characters. Children were invited to share their Christmas wishes with Santa, and a dedicated letter-writing station was available for those who would rather send their holiday requests the old-fashioned way. Guests captured festive moments with Snaparazzi’s photo booth, indulged in face painting, took a magical train ride, and enjoyed in various other delightful activities throughout the event.

In the true spirit of giving, the city encouraged attendees to bring gifts supporting Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree program. Donations for ages 8-15 were collected, ensuring that children in need received thoughtful and age-appropriate gifts during the holiday season. Additionally, PetSense by Tractor Supply collected donations of food and bedding for rescued animals.

Mayor Nancy Depreo expressed her excitement, stating, “Christmas on the Town Green is a cherished tradition that brings our community together to celebrate the joy and magic of the holiday season. It is always a wonderful opportunity for families to create lasting memories and spread goodwill. Thank you to everyone who supported the city in making this festive event a truly special occasion.”
