The autumn cold fronts are bringing wind and rough seas, which means that fisherman need to get creative about where they find fish.

On those days we can get out, most of what we have done were nearshore trips. Most days you can still get out and fish in these winds; you just have to be careful and not take any chances.
We are still seeing plenty of bait. The fishing is still good close to shore, but with the winds you are limited where you can go. We are concentrating on the nearshore trips near Bayou Caddy, or back bay fishing. We are still seeing redfish, some black drum, some sheepshead, some very nice flounder, and some white trout. We are looking forward to some flounder fishing here in the next few weeks. Please remember that Louisiana’s flounder season will close on the 15th. As of now Mississippi will keep theirs open. We are definitely ready for some calm days so we can get back to the Louisiana marsh. Our last few days over there before the winds came were very encouraging with the amount of bait and fish. There will probably be a few lingering tripletail these next few weeks. They will likely head offshore when the water temperatures plummet, so be on the lookout for those tasty critters while you can. We just have to wait for the right weather – and make your time on the water count. Enjoy this feature?
