Fishing is great right now, but time will tell how this week's rain will change the fishing outlook.

The majority of the fish were caught on live shrimp. The soft plastics under Boat Monkey popping corks worked, but it seemed the cleaner the water, the better the live shrimp worked. The boats fishing in the Bay and on the near shore reefs are doing well. It’s a mix of puppy drum, flounder, sheepshead, trout and redfish. We even saw more pompano than we have seen all year! A few of the nearshore reefs were also holding big numbers of white trout. We never got on a big run of those tasty little critters this summer, so maybe they are just late to the party. We have seen some very nice flounder on our Mississippi nearshore trips. They should be lingering around until the next good cold front or two passes through. Please remember that flounder season is closed in Louisiana waters until December 1. A final note: Louisiana’s new trout regulations will go into effect on November 20.
