The unusually warm weather could mean an early banner spring for fishermen and women of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

One lucky angler landed this big bull red fishing with Captain and Josh Ellis of Grand Pass Outfitters in Pass Christian Harbor.

We are getting the occasional wave of salty water. When that happens, the fishing seems to get really good, really fast. The rivers are steadily dropping and hopefully the rain will stop filling them. ​Live shrimp has been very difficult to get, but the dead shrimp has been working well on the redfish, black drum, and sheepshead.

Best haul of trout we have seen in weeks for this lucky crew fishing with Captain Matt Tusa out of Bayou Caddy.

It seems to be getting a little better each day. These unusually warm temperatures are making things fun and exciting.

We have already started seeing small sharks at some of our deeper spots. It’s just going to take a little more time for the salinity to come up.

If this warm weather sticks around and the salinity rises, it is going to be a spring to remember.
