Spring is now in full swing, and the fish know it! This time of year, it’s about near-shore fishing – and if you think that always means small fry, you’ve got another thing coming.

The best thing going the last week has been the puppy drum, and sheepshead. We have had a couple days of some really good red fishing, and that should just keep getting better and better. There has been a big push of the gigantic black drum on all the reefs and bridges. We don’t typically keep them, but man are they a brutal fight on light tackle. Some of these fish can get around 40 pounds! We usually take a picture and let these big critters swim away. The salinity has been steadily going up, and hopefully it will continue that way. The fishing should just keep getting better and better. Enjoy this feature?
