The weather may get ugly this week - but there's a silver lining to those dark clouds!

In the meantime, we are still working with whatever Mother Nature throws at us. The nearshore bite tapered off a little this week, but were still able to find some speckled trout, reds, drum, and sheepshead at the reefs, bridges, and in the Bay. The Louisiana Marsh is holding better water and better fish for the time being. The boats that got out there after the tide started rising did much better on the trout and sheepshead. We are beginning to see a big push of big bull reds and black drum. These drag-pulling monsters are always a treat on light tackle. There are still plenty of fish to be caught on western side of the MS Gulf Coast. My recommendation is to pick the calmer days if possible and try to get on the rising tide. It should get much better after a couple of days of big southerly winds. Hang in there, sports fans – the real fun is about to begin! Enjoy this feature?
