The availability of live bait and improving water and weather conditions means more and better fish.

The biggest news this week: Bait shops are getting LIVE SHRIMP!!! These April storms are making those folks work for every piece of live bait, and we are very appreciative for it. The bait shops in Pass Harbor, Bayou Caddy and Bay Marina have really been hustling to get bait. This rain has and will likely keep the rivers high, which will definitely drop salinity over by the Pearl River. All we can do is hope for less rain and south winds. In the meantime, we are still doing what we can when we can. Most of our boats are still working close to shore on the breezy days. The Bay and nearshore reefs have been the safest bet, and the most consistent bite. It’s a mixed bag of awesomeness. The small puppy drum have been saving the day. We are also seeing a good mix of redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead, white trout and flounder. The gigantic black drum have been as good we have seen in years. April can be a wet and windy month, and I sincerely hope I’m wrong in saying that. Take advantage of the good weather days, play it safe, and enjoy the cooler temps while we got them. This battle with Mother Nature happens almost every April. Make the most of it! Enjoy this feature?
