With good water conditions and the right bait, big fish are out there, just waiting to be caught. You don't have to be a pro to find the big ones - but a charter captain certainly improves your odds!

We have been doing pretty well on speckled trout, but again, everything hinges on the wind and good water. We are seeing big numbers of trout in close, but the majority of them have been undersized. It’s still early spring, so if we are seeing this now, it could be a sign of good things to come in the next few weeks. The big sheepshead are moving out, but there are still some packs of them down south. You can still catch them in close on the reefs and bridges, but the ones to the south are big and plentiful. The puppy drum and big black drum have moved in. We have not seen big numbers of shrimp pushing through, but it’s still early for that. Almost all the bait shops are carrying live shrimp, and we have greatly appreciated the hustle from those hard-working folks. The white trout have been moving in, and hopefully they keep on coming. Prepared fresh, they are absolutely delicious. Keep moving and watch for the good water. Watch out for spring storms and enjoy these mild temperatures. Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
